More severe challenges for the special education kids during the COVID-19

During COVID-19, TACOMA -- Parents and teachers across the state are struggling to cope with the new realities now that school has been canceled for the rest of this school year. Those challenges are amplified for parents with special education kids.

 With COVID-19 ending the school year early, for parents with special needs children, even temporary isolation could mean long term impacts. One thing is for sure the pandemic moving forward is going to change the way we think about education and how we come up with resources.

Education is one of the powerful tools for many people to escape poverty and participate fully in society. However, some minority groups are deprived of the opportunities. This may be caused by issues on economy, society or culture. More attention should be paid to ensure their education right nowadays.

Journal of Contemporary Special Education Research is a serial publication that focuses on researches and development trends of special education fields and disciplines, to popularize special education knowledge and to report work trends in special education fields. It aims to promote the industrialization of research achievements on special education and to ensure equality for international special education undertakings.
